About the Project
An open-source initiative for accessible auditory research.
Our Mission
The Trahreg Tinnitus Therapy Suite was created to bridge the gap between clinical research and accessible technology. Many effective sound therapy protocols are locked behind expensive proprietary devices; our goal is to provide these tools for free, with total privacy, to anyone with a web browser.
- Privacy First: No tracking, no cookies, and no data collection. Your hearing data stays on your device.
- Research-Led: Every tool is built following parameters established in peer-reviewed clinical trials.
- Offline Capability: Designed to work anywhere, ensuring therapy is available without an active internet connection.
Technology Stack
The suite is built using modern, lightweight web technologies to ensure maximum portability and performance:
- 🛠 Web Audio API: For high-precision, real-time audio synthesis and filtering.
- 💾 Local Storage: For secure, local-only persistence of therapy settings.
- 🐍 Python (NumPy/SciPy): Powering the offline calibrated WAV generator.
- 📄 Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS: No heavy frameworks, ensuring long-term maintainability.
Clinical Specifications
- 🎯 Stereo Calibration: Fully independent L/R frequency and volume controls to support asymmetric tinnitus.
- 📉 Filter Precision: Notch filters validated at >40dB attenuation with ±1% center frequency accuracy.
- 👂 Audibility Testing: Built-in hearing range exploration to track thresholds and identify deprivation zones.
- 🔄 Neuromodulation: Independent channel modulation and tone bursting following TENT-A timing protocols.
- 🎵 CR Protocol: Precise 1.5Hz clinical timing for Coordinated Reset sequences.
- 📊 Diagnostic Mapping: Integrated Tinnitus Masking Curve and Loudness Growth assessment tools.
- 🧠 Habituation Tools: Integrated THI scoring and CBT modules for holistic psychological management.
- 🎧 Phase Logic: Integrated hardware phase auditing to ensure correct signal delivery for decorrelated noise.
- 🛡 System Health: Automated 30-day validation cycle to ensure audio engine integrity.
Professional Review
To facilitate professional medical review, the suite allows you to share your configuration and usage data directly with your clinician:
- Configure Email: On the Home page, expand the Project card and enter your Audiologist's email address. This setting is saved locally on your device.
- Clinical Summary: Use the Clinical Summary page to print a scientific overview of our protocols to show your doctor.
- Send Reports: Within any therapy module, click the Email to Audiologist button.
- Clinical Context: This generates a pre-formatted email containing your specific therapy settings, daily usage logs, and the results of your hardware and system validation tests for your doctor to review.
Collaborate with Us
We are actively looking for researchers, audiologists, and software engineers to help improve the suite. Areas where we need help include:
- Validation of DSP algorithms against clinical standards.
- UI/UX improvements for accessibility (screen readers, etc.).
- Localization and translation into more languages.
